My doubt is regarding two contracdictory statement I came across..during my OCP prep...
1)Group by clause cannot contain alias name.
2)Only order by and group by clause can have alias name supporter.
I am sure that alias can be used in order by...and also 99% sure it cant be used in group by.....then what abt 2) statement........Plz clear my doubt
Soni,
Congrats on the heavy studying that you are doing for your OCP. I doubt that the certification will be of much value to you without much in the way of practical experiencegroup by alias. Have you considered attempting to answer many of your questions by trying them out on an Oracle database? You may download Oracle Lite from otn.oracle.com.
If you are not in a position to do this, may I suggest that you do more reading of the Concepts manual which is also available under the Documentation section of that same website.
I've come to the conclusion that you are either struggling with the terminology or the concepts, in either case, you do yourself a disservice, in my opinion, by taking taking tgroup by aliashis route to solving the questions that you have. How do you know if you are being given accurate answers? What if the same concept is phrased differently on the exam (hey, it could happen).
In any event, I can see the effort that you are putting into this venture and wish you all the best. In future, I will refrain from answering your questions, unless I think the act of answering, as well as the answer will be of value to you.
